A Great Fellowship Of Women

A Great Fellowship of Women

Written by Elizabeth H.

I just got back home from a small gathering of wonderful ladies that are doing married life, parenting and career the exceptional way. Why exceptional? They are different from other ladies I have spent time with: they are doing their life-activities with God as their Driver.

This particular group started as a baby shower group and then morphed into what we call the Parenting Lane. Oh, what a wonderful group to belong to! I am neither married nor a parent but these women always share wisdom. I am down for learning the parenting and marriage game before I get there. I like to be prepared.

Today, we had our first official meeting. It was such a wonderful time with great “swallowship” (Rivonia Suites, where we met up, has some amazing food) and the fellowship was even greater. A number of ladies shared about their experiences and I took lots of notes.

What point am I trying to put across? Being unequally yoked is a real thing. Surround yourself with people that you can learn from and whose growth you can also contribute to. Do not be a parasite always: constantly taking from others but not giving. I am glad that the women felt like they learned something from me even as I learned from them. They taught me to take something in dating very seriously. They said that if the person you are seeing starts to alienate you from your friends, it is a red flag. You must run away. Very far away. Fellowship: spending time with like-minded women or just women you trust, is essential to your sanity. Do not let anyone take that away from you, no matter how much you think you love a guy. You could lose yourself. No one is worth you losing yourself.
