Name : Maia Feruzi

City : Boston

Country : United States of America (USA)

Continent : North America

About Me : I am a 20 year old college student currently making preparations to move to and pursue an education in Tokyo, Japan.

Challenge Faced : I suffer from extreme general anxiety, bipolar disorder and depression. From a young age I've been bullied, a victim of domestic violence on two separate accounts and have been sexually assaulted three times, raped twice. All of these amounted into one big challenge of just finding the will to live.

How I Overcame : I didn't. Not entirely at least. I went through therapy, I talked to my family members, I tried prescription medication, but nothing could take away from that pain inside my chest. No matter how many friends tell me they love me, they're not there with me at 3am when the I can't sleep because nightmares parade in my dreams and anxiety keeps me trapped in a loop thinking of fifth grade embarrassment. The only thing that really worked was just deciding I had had enough. I was done suffering. Crying. Hurting. I wanted to be happy. So I made an active and conscious effort to be happy. When I woke up in the morning, appreciating the sunlight that came through my window. Going to work and appreciating getting a seat on the train. Finding the little things about my life and the world I live in that I could appreciate. It gets me through the day. And before you know it days bleed to weeks to months to years. And you've done it. You're happy.

What single advice would you like to give women? : Mindset is really the key to success in life how ever you define success. Change your mindset to match your goals, and then watch as you accomplish them.
