Challenge Faced : A day before I was to be released from the hospital, I called my younger brother and told him I would love to be treated to a day at a nearby hotel. I felt like being spoiled and pampered. When he picked me up, he had his bag and mine packed. Our hotel stay would be a surprise. He drove us to one of the OMNI hotels in town. Thanks to the COVID pandemic, the hotel was pretty much empty. We went up to the lobby and the front desk. I was ecstatic about the beautiful floral collections all over the hotel. Such beauty was intentional. I love purple in its different shades, and I found a number of purple flowers around. There were mirrors placed in strategic positions. The lobby furniture was opulent-looking. While the dining room was empty, it still gave an air of wealth, even if a tad bit old. My brother and I went to our room after we checked in. I took my time taking a shower with the luxurious vanity pieces: sweet smelling shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion. Everything I needed was in the bathroom. After I dried myself, I opened up the closet and found a complimentary hotel robe that was soft to the touch and cozy to wear. I was in heaven. Coming here was a great idea.   My brother and I ordered food and ate out by the pool. I could feel my recovery reverberating through me. I decided I would treat myself to at least one hotel stay every month: to get away but also to observe what good there was in the world. That the OMNI Hotel Las Colinas had great customer service meant that they cared about people and their customers. Them caring about people and their customers was healing for me: a person very knowledgeable about trauma and how even the smallest kindness can bring healing to survivors. So, kudos to the OMNI Dallas for being one of over 100 hotels that Dr. Onyewuchi has stayed at: and of a number that she finds to have great customer service. I will visit this hotel again.
