Continent : South America

About Me : I am a psychology and women's studies senior at Florida Atlantic University. I'm a plant enthusiast and like writing short stories in my spare time.

Challenge Faced : I did not see my parents for nine years. From age seven to age of sixteen, we had a relationship that I later learned it's called transnational parenting. Thought they were very loving and supportive from afar, I didn't see them physically for a good part of my upbringing. I lived with my extended family in a toxic environment, which caused me to be suicidal in my early teens.

How I Overcame : It was with the help of a relative that I was able to get a new perspective on life. I don't think I would have been able to make it out of such a dark time alone. My uncle taught me the importance of having aspirations, hobbies, and a support system. I eventually found a family in my friends.

What single advice would you like to give women? : It's liberating to let go of any grudges. Don't dwell on hurtful situations.
